About this activity...
Calling for volunteers to join the friendly group of sewing ladies that make reusable cloth “Boomerang Bags” out of donated clean used and new fabrics to save it from going to landfill and reduce the amount of plastic bags being used - at the same time building community.
These finished handmade bags are generously gifted out for free in our Community and volunteering helps women network, bond and feel they are contributing at the same time. Kind of like a "Women's Shed".
Held the second Saturday of every month at the “SWitCH” Centre building corner Forder Street & Garson Court Noranda from 12.30pm to 4pm.
Please just turn up. Come along and join our friendly group of volunteers - whether you can sew or not, as there are plenty of other jobs to do such as pinning, cutting, silk screening, ironing, numbering, quality control or just making afternoon tea and chatting!
Please bring your own sewing machine or overlocker to use as we need to use our own machines and don't have any spare to lend out. Bring your scissors, pins etc. We provide the fabric and cottons and an afternoon tea.
Where is the “SWitCH Centre” you ask, and where do I find parking? Although the address for the centre is the corner of Forder Street and Garson Court, Noranda, to access the front door you need to go into the rear parking bays off Garson Court and ring the door bell.
Love to see you there so come along and help make a bag with love and even get to take one home! Everyone or all abilities Welcome.
