About this activity...
The Denmark Volunteer Marine Rescue Group is overseen by the Department of Fire & Emergency Services (DFES) and is run by local volunteers.
The group is equipped with a 7.5m NAIAD rescue vessel RV Ratcliffe bay suitable for ocean rescue, and also operates a Limited Coast Radio Station VMR613 from 0700 to sunset 365 days a year to monitor marine communications in the Denmark/Peaceful Bay area.
The groups main function is to be on hand for quick response to incidents at sea or in inland waters (Wilson inlet). In addition the group operates radio sub bases for local boaties to log on and off using VHF marine radio on channel 22, and to take emergency call. As with most volunteer organisations the group is always looking for extra local volunteers for marine rescue crew or radio operators.
Anyone with an interest in this activity can attend the monthly meeting at 7pm on the first Thursday of each month at Denmark Boating & Angling Club, Ocean Beach or call Derek Stone on 98482398 / 0433 651 085 to enquire.
