$5000 up for grabs for schools to promote health

Mentally Healthy WA is urging all schools to consider applying for new Healthway grants aimed at promoting health, including mental health and wellbeing.

Healthway has announced a new Healthy Schools Grant, where schools can apply for up to $5,000 to develop projects that promote the health of students through activities aligned with the Health Promoting Schools Framework. Funds can be used for up to two days of teacher relief, resources for classroom activities, administrative costs, guest speakers and other equipment costs. Projects can be linked to improving mental health, as well as other health priority areas.

The guidelines provide an outline of Healthway’s Healthy Schools Program, including details around eligibility requirements, the application form, and assessment process. There is also access a toolkit which contains information, resources and case studies to help develop school projects.  Act Belong Commit’s Mentally Healthy Schools Program is included in the toolkit as one of the example programs schools can partner with.

 The Mentally Healthy Schools Program has been helping schools throughout WA to embed the Act Belong Commit message to boost the mental health and wellbeing of their students and staff for several years. Encouraging mentally healthy behaviours in young people is more important now than ever, helping schoolsby providing a framework, resources, and PD opportunities to do so.

You will have to be quick to apply for Healthway’s Healthy Schools Grants as the deadline is 5pm, Wednesday 27 April 2022.
