Mentally Healthy School in Profile – Willetton Senior High School

Posted 4 Mar 2019

Willetton Senior High School has been an Act-Belong-Commit partner school for the last 3 years.

In 2018, the school placed an emphasis on mental health, resilience and connecting with the community and peers in a respectful, tolerant and co-operative way.

They continued to embed the Act-Belong-Commit message into their year 10 health class. At the start of the year, the class participated in the Youth Connectors workshop, a workshop that teaches young people how to be mentally healthy, as well as how to support their peers to be mentally healthy.

Following the workshop, students utilised their knowledge and skills in a visit to a local community respite centre supporting people living with disability. The students played games, painted nails and danced with the clients. This was a great opportunity for everyone to get involved with the community and to encourage them to develop meaning and purpose through volunteering and helping others.

Any primary or secondary school in Western Australia can partner with us to promote the Act-Belong-Commit message. To find out more about the program or how your school can become more mentally healthy, get in touch.
